SEMARANG – The Intelligent Distributed Surveillance System (IDSS) research group at Dian Nuswantoro University (UDINUS) has once again produced an innovation in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This time, the IDSS research team successfully developed a system based on Computer Vision and Deep Learning designed to assist in the early detection of various skin diseases.
The development of this system was driven by the public's limited access to initial skin health screenings, particularly in areas lacking specialist facilities. By utilizing image processing algorithms, the system can analyze photographs of problematic skin areas and rapidly classify potential early-stage indications.
A representative from the UDINUS IDSS research team stated that the AI model was developed using a verified medical image dataset. "We trained the system using a deep learning architecture to recognize the visual patterns and characteristics of various skin abnormalities. We hope this innovation can serve as an initial screening tool before patients seek further medical consultation," the representative said.
Looking ahead, the UDINUS IDSS team plans to further improve the model's accuracy and integrate it into a mobile application platform. This initiative reflects the UDINUS IDSS team's commitment to conducting applied technology research that delivers a direct impact on the community and the healthcare sector.
